Wetland Webinar with Community Law Mediation Centre for Environmental Justice

We will hear from Clodagh Daly of the Community Law Mediation Centre for Environmental Justice about the supports they provide to community groups on legal matters, as well as training on environmental rights and their advocacy work on environmental justice. Community Law and Mediation (CLM) was set up in 1975 as part of the campaign for civil legal aid. Today, they assist more than 4000 people every year through the provision of free legal, mediation and education services.

In February of 2021, CLM expanded its work into the area of environmental justice by setting up Ireland’s first Centre for Environmental Justice (CEJ). “Environmental Justice” is the intersection of social justice and environmentalism – in other words, the protection of both people and the planet. They provide free legal advice clinics weekly, community training, and we advocate for a rights-based approach to environmental policy and law reform.
