Get to know the Birds of the Raised Bog

In the run up to a biodiversity field day at Cloncrow Bog, Tyrrellspass , we are organising a series of webinars exploring common species found on and around raised bogs.

We will kick off with an exploration of the birds of raised bogs with Ricky Whelan, newly appointed Biodiversity Officer at Offaly Co. Council. Ricky spent the past decade at BirdWatch Ireland focused on urban bird and citizen science related projects. Ricky helped found the Irish Wildlife Trust Laois-Offaly Branch and has been an active volunteer for many years at the Abbeyleix Bog Project. Ricky also co-hosts the In Your Nature podcast

Learn how to identify birds commonly found on raised bogs, and how we can protect them.

This will be an interactive evening with the opportunity to ask questions and make comments at the end.
