Celebrating Killyconny Bog for International Bog Day

Join the Killyconny Bog Project and St. Kilian’s Heritage Centre in celebrating Killyconny Bog on Saturday 22nd July for International Bog Day.

A range of activities and events will take place from 12pm – 3pm. People are asked to park in Mullagh at the Heritage Centre or the graveyard as there is no parking available at the bog. People are encouraged to cycle or walk. Everyone is welcome! Activities for all ages. Suitable footwear is required.

12pm-12.30pm: View the Bog Exhibition and enjoy some refreshments at St. Kilian’s Heritage Centre.

12.30pm-3pm: Shuttle bus will run throughout the day from the Heritage Centre to Killyconny Bog where activities will take place

  • Special Guest Maurice Eakin, Senior Regional Manager in National Parks and Wildlife Service will speak about the nature conservation and restoration of Killyconny Bog
  • Display of Turf Cutting tools of the past by Patsy Costello
  • Wildlife, Flora and Fauna presented by Jonathan Shackleton and Tom Broe
  • Yoga on the Bog by Marion Gilsenan (bring a mat with you)
  • Mindfulness Walk and Talk along the bog road facilitated by Dr. Aine McHugh
  • Art workshop for younger guests by Daphne Shackleton

This is a free event, no booking is required. Donations are welcome.
